Chowkbazar Iftar Para


Dhaka's largest, most diverse and popular iftar market is Old Dhaka's Chawkbazar. 

After noon, iftar stalls started to sit on the road in front of the Shahi Mosque built during Shaista Kha's period.

The special attraction of this Ifataripara, which is traditional for almost 100 years, is "Bara Baper Polaya Khai, Thongay Vaira Leiya Jai", which is also called "Shahi Jhalmuri".

This dish created by local chef Mohammad Kamal Mahmud has kept its reputation intact for almost 75 years. Before Bangladesh became independent, it was known as "Sik Churar Bharta".

This food is available only in the shops built on the footpaths on Crowded Street in Chawkbazar. These shopkeepers have enough preparation to protect themselves from sun and rain even if it is temporary. 

Besides, iftar is sold in the open in restaurants.

Iftar is not complete without bakarkhani. There are five types of bakarkhani -  cheese bakarkhani, salty bakarkhani, chocolate bakarkhani, sweet bakarkhani and vanilla bakarkhani.

After Chowkbazar, the famous place for Iftar is Bailey Road. 

This one month of fasting completely changes the place known as food district. Bailey Road's Iftar has gained popularity since the 80s.

Dhanmondi is now a favorite place for foodies due to the abundance of restaurants and food courts.

Fakhruddin, who sells biryani throughout the year, has brought a variety of Iftar items to mark the fast.

Kala Bagan's Iftar Bazaar is almost fifty years old.

Here all traditional rural food is available at Iftar market.
